We all know that scoring the perfect outfit for July 4th is a must (and not always easy…). If you’re struggling to find the ultimate look that’s both striking and patriotic, we’ve got you covered. Here, we chose some of our favorite July 4th outfits that can take you from the beach to a BBQ…
2. For a pool party…there’s no better choice than the MILLY Parrot Print Micro Shorts. J.Lo approved (she wore these micro shorts in the music video for “We Are One”, the official 2014 Fifa World Cup song) they are modern and bold. Plus, they can be worn in the water!
With summer just around the corner, it’s time to amp up your swimwear game. MILLY designer and founder Michelle Smith has designed a selection of must-have unique swimsuits for all body types, crafted in her one-of-a-kind prints and luxe fabrics. From a full coverage underwire bustier option to a classic string bikini, there’s plenty to choose from for all beach or poolside occasions.
Now that spring break is here, I’m dreaming about my favorite warm weather locations… One exotic hideaway that instantly comes to mind is a hidden gem on the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico - a little surf town called Sayulita (photos courtesy of Claudia Lebenthal, Style of Sport). Discovered in the late 1960s by wandering surfers, this off-the-beaten-path town is quickly becoming a popular spot for its stunning beaches, jungle terrain, snorkeling and fishing, and of course, its surfing.
The ultimate location for anyone looking to live on a surfboard for a few days, it features tame waves for beginners and surging ones for pros. Plus, if you’re down for an eclectic culture fix, you’ll love walking around the town scouting the different shops, filled with bohemian style jewelry, clothing, bags, and swimwear. P.S. You can’t go to Sayulita without heading to Pacha Mama - you’ll fall in love with the gypsy-inspired designs from the stunning Mignot sisters.
Insider info: make sure your trip to Sayulita overlaps with one of the town’s favorite events, the annual Punta Sayulita Classic. This weekend long contest hails some of the top athletes for long board and stand up paddle surfing…
MILLY founder and designer Michelle Smith reports on her recent trip to the remote island of Petit St. Vincent. You may just need to book a trip…
A vacation in Petit St. Vincent is a (much-needed) escape I take with my husband, Andy, and my two children, Sophia and Will. It’s a week for playing in the sun and sand and family time, away from the city.
After two flights and a boat ride, we arrive at our destination—Petit St. Vincent, located directly below St. Vincent. Not easy to get to, but totally worth it.
Known for its rolling hills and gorgeous beach, surrounded by coral reefs, but what I love most is the privacy—no Internet, TV, or phones. Talk about seclusion!
As soon as we arrive at our airy cottage, the kids can’t wait to change into their swimsuits. We run to the water and enjoy the pristine white sand under our feet. (My daughter Sophia, as the inspiration for my children’s line, MILLY Minis, is wearing her favorite new cover-up while I grab my MILLY Fiji bikini and MILLY Guadas tunic. Meanwhile, my colorblock handbag, which doubles as a beach tote is fully loaded with Kiehl’s SPF 30 and beach toys.) We all head to the water immediately to spend what’s left of the day enjoying the water.
I’m a big believer that some sun, sand, relaxation, and rum punch can cure all winter doldrums. After just a short while in the sun, taking in the salty air and the gentle breeze, I’m already feeling completely relaxed.
The nearby hammock is perfect for lounging. I can’t wait for the snorkeling, excursions, island dinners, and dancing-by-moonlight to come.
