Vail is one of our favorite ski destinations, but we think it’s even more gorgeous during the summer months. Talk about Instagram-bait - the mountainous views are unparalleled.
How do you spend the perfect summer day there? Check out our top picks below. Happy travels…
WHAT TO PACK
We all knowing clothing trumps all. What should you bring?
No matter how active you plan to be during your trip (there’s horseback riding and mountain climbing, biking and hiking), you will also need some clothes for town.
Shopping in town is definitely on your to-do list, look cool and crisp in these MILLY cuffed shorts, paired with a MILLY flyaway tank.
Vail has some amazing restaurants, so make sure you bring along the MILLY winter orchid dress - the vibrant print is a head-turner. We also love the MILLY classic striped sweater and MILLY floral Katie skirt, pictured above - a brilliant combo that can be mixed and matched with other pieces.
Pool day at the hotel? The MILLY Maxime bikini, with its unique illusion print, is a stunner.
And of course, don’t forget your essentials… the MILLY Metallic Rivington tote fits it all.
WHERE TO STAY
The Sonnenalp is one of our favorite hotels in Vail. With gorgeous views of Gore Greek, an outdoor pool and a luxurious spa with an oxygen bar, it’s the perfect place to unwind after an active day in the sun.
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK
Grab lunch on the outdoor terrace overlooking the creek at Sweet Basil. Our favorite place for a celebratory meal is Kelly Liken, run by the namesake chef of Iron Chef, its seasonal menu can’t be beat.
Looking to head out late night? The Red Lion features live music from favorite local artists. We don’t apologize for partying. (We even have it on a shirt).
WHAT TO DO
Check out the Vail Jazz festival, happening all summer!
Now what about a feast for your eyes? Take in Vail’s stunning mountain ranges on miles of hikes. Try the Eagles Loop on Vail Mountain, a 1-mile ridge top loop. Or Booth Falls, a 5-mile loop featuring a waterfall just a 10-minute drive from Vail.
Love adorable mountain villages? Minturn, Colorado is for you. Just a 15-minute drive from Vail, this adorable village houses a bustling farmers market called the Minturn Market, running June-September.
Feeling adventurous? Why not go on a Horseback Riding trip! Arkansas Valley Adventures offers great rides on two different mountain locations just an hour away from Vail Mountain. 2 hours, half day, full day… you name it!
