11:30 am: My production team, Dizon Inc., arrives on-site first to start organizing. They have produced MILLY fashion shows for years so they’re total pros and can handle anything.
11:45 am: Backstage catering arrives. This year, Le Pain Quotidien sponsored our backstage lunch, which will get devoured by the crew soon enough.
12:00 pm: The models, makeup, hair and nail teams arrive on-set at Lincoln Center. It’s organized chaos! Hair, makeup, and nails are hugely important to my show - every detail matters, so it takes a lot of time to perfect the look on each model. (DIYs to come…)
1:00 pm: I arrive, and quickly get my hair and makeup done by Kevin and Romy while I prepare my notes for backstage interviews. This season, I was inspired by a recent trip Tokyo to modernize the traditional notion of femininity.
1:30 pm: Backstage interviews start—I have a full schedule, but I love walking everyone through the collection personally. It’s the first time anyone outside of my team has seen it, a big moment.
2:00 pm: Time for shoe rehearsal. The models walk in 5 inch custom-made Manolo Blahniks with hundreds of people watching—you can imagine why we need a rehearsal…
2:15 pm.: The models are dressed in their first looks, and I can’t wait to see the collection come to life.
3:00 pm: SHOW TIME!
